The project “MEDISHARE: Digital Storytelling in Cultural Heritage Institutions of Small Mediterranean Islands” investigates the digital divide within the network of cultural heritage institutions located on Mediterranean islands, with a focus on Cyprus and Italy, Croatia, and Greece's small islands.

The project has two primary objectives: first, to analyse the digital portfolios of small and remote museums and cultural heritage institutions scattered across the islands; and second, to identify the technological skills gaps among their staff.

By identifying specific needs and skill gaps among museum and cultural heritage professionals the project seeks to develop tailored Open Educational Resources (OERs) to enhance their digital competencies.

The project employs a mixed and interdisciplinary methodology, integrating digital humanities and social sciences, alongside a participatory approach. This approach aims to engage cultural heritage professionals — both in permanent and temporary positions — to develop bottom-up digital strategies and practices tailored to the cultural heritage sector.
